FAQs - Leaderboards and Running Totals

Leaderboards

Can I have my Leaderboards start from 0 each day/week/month?

Yes. To do this, you'll need to make use of Leaderboard partitions. For details on how to do this, see the Starting Leaderboards at Zero tutorial.

How do I return only my scores and the scores of my social friends from a Leaderboard?

You can use the SocialLeaderboardDataRequest to return the scores of your friends.

Can a player post more than one entry to a single Leaderboard?

Yes. You can do this - for a worked example that shows you how, see the Posting Multiple Leaderboard Entries as a Player tutorial.

Can I access Leaderboard data using Cloud Code?

Yes. You can access Leaderboard data using the SparkRequests API. For more details and an example of how to do this, see the Accessing Leaderboards with Cloud Code tutorial.

Can I update multiple Leaderboards with a single Event?

Yes. You can do this - for a worked example that shows you how, see the Updating Multiple Leaderboards with a Single Event tutorial.

Running Totals

I understand that an Event/Attribute with the Attribute's Default Aggregation Type set to Used in Script will not be available as a Running Total when I configure the Leaderboards for my game. Is there any way I CAN make it available as a Running Total?

Yes. If you set up a User Configured Running Total, the Used in Script Event/Attribute will be available as a Collector for setting up your custom Running Total. You can then set the Calculation Type for the Collector to such as Maximum and save it. This new Running Total will then be available when you configure your game Leaderboards, because the Calculation Type - Maximum - overrides the initial Default Calculation Type - Used in Script.

Is there a practical example that demonstrates the difference between system and custom Running Totals?

Yes. To follow an example that uses both system generated and user configured custom Running Totals, please see the Updating Multiple Leaderboards with a Single Event tutorial.
